History
There was a representation agreement between the Italian collecting society IMAIE and GVL for the cross-border collection of rights. As part of this bilateral cooperation, IMAIE also collected remuneration in Italy for performers represented by GVL. However, in 2010, to our great surprise, insolvency proceedings were initiated against IMAIE's assets. These proceedings have not yet been fully concluded.
Current
IMAIE still holds funds that are due to our rights holders and have not yet been paid out. Since IMAIE's insolvency, we have been working hard to claim these funds in the ongoing insolvency proceedings and to have them paid out. These efforts have been successful and we now have information from IMAIE about which GVL rights holders are entitled to remuneration.
What needs to be done
In order to successfully register the claims of those affected in the insolvency proceedings, we require a clearly legible copy of your identity card or passport (front and back) by 31 August 2025 at the latest.
Why does GVL require a copy of your ID?
The insolvency administrators insist on the submission of current proof of identity for each individual rights holder. This is based on a decision by the President of the Roman Court of Justice.
We will, of course, treat the copy exclusively for the intended purpose and in strict confidence in accordance with data protection regulations. It will be deleted immediately after completion of the proceedings. We will also impose a corresponding obligation on the Italian insolvency administrators.
