Promotion for rights holders
If you are a rights holder and have signed a GVL agreement for the assignment and administration of rights, you have the possibility to apply for individual grants. These include cultural and social grants as well as grants for senior beneficiaries.
Apply for individuell grants
Contract holders for the purposes of these guidelines are all rights holders who have actually assigned their remuneration entitlements and rights to GVL on the basis of their rights administration agreement or via a representation agreement if a deduction on grants has been agreed upon with other collective management organisations or music licensing companies (CMO/MLC). The allocation of grants requires that the contract holders have assigned their rights to GVL for Germany without restriction.
A person is eligible to receive grants if they do not simultaneously receive grants for the application purpose directly or indirectly via another CMO or MLC. This shall apply for the entire duration of receipt of the grant. Applicants must prove this by providing a current confirmation (no specific form required) by the other CMO/MLC.
Apply for cultural and social grants
Cultural grants
Only rights holders of GVL can apply for cultural grants. By way of example, you can apply for financial support for further professional education, participation in artistic competitions or an artistic education for your children.
Social grants
It is possible for GVL rights holders to apply for partial equalisation of loss of income via the social grants scheme during phases where they are not able to work; they can also apply for financial support towards sick pay. Help can also be provided in the event of an emergency through no fault of your own or need due to special events, if an emergency situation can be proven (for example by a court order or similar).

Grants for senior beneficiaries
With our scheme “grants for senior beneficiaries”, seniors can recieve financial support. Members who have had their 65th birthday may apply for financial support subject to the following conditions:
1. GVL loyalty
The rights holders must have been members of GVL for at least 20 years and have participated in regular distributions for at least 18 different distribution years or have already benefited from the loyalty scheme in the past. If you receive monies as part of our distribution 2010, it counts as if you had provided us with evidence for claimable income in the sense of the previous income-based distribution system run by GVL.
2. Amount of the grant
With respect to applications up to and including the 2018 reference year, the following gross income limits apply:
a) If the annual gross income of the rights holder does not exceed an amount of EUR 18,000 the annual payment shall amount to EUR 1,000.
b) If the annual gross income of the rights holder does not exceed an amount of EUR 12,000 the annual payment shall amount to EUR 1,500.
With respect to applications from 2019 onwards, the following gross income limits apply:
a) If the annual gross income of the rights holder does not exceed an amount of EUR 22.200 the annual payment shall amount to EUR 1,000.
b) If the annual gross income of the rights holder does not exceed an amount of EUR 14.800 the annual payment shall amount to EUR 1,500.
For applications from 2021 the following gross income thresholds shall apply:
a) If the annual gross income of the rights rights holders does not exceed an amount of EUR 23,800, the annual payment shall amount to EUR 1,000.
b) If the annual gross income of the rights rights holders does not exceed an amount of EUR 15,850, the annual payment shall amount to EUR 1,500.
As there were no pension adjustments in 2021, the same income limits applied for the 2022 claim year as for 2021.
For applications from 2023 onwards, the following gross income limits apply:
a) If the beneficiary's annual gross income does not exceed an amount of €25,075, the annual payment shall be €1,000.
b) If the annual gross income of the beneficiary does not exceed an amount of 17,000 euros, the annual payment shall be 1,500 euros.
With respect to applications from 2024 onwards, the following gross income limits apply:
a) If the annual gross income of the rights holder does not exceed an amount of EUR 25,950 the annual payment shall amount to EUR 1,000.
b) If the annual gross income of the rights holder does not exceed an amount of EUR 17,595 the annual payment shall amount to EUR 1,500.
The change is due to the pension increase of 3.5% planned for 2024.
3. Application procedure
The rights holder fulfilling such prerequisites shall send in a written informal application to be considered under this regulation and provide information on their gross income by sending in supporting evidence for it.
