GVL celebrates its premiere with ‘GVL Live’ in the Festsaal Kreuzberg
2025 is a special year for GVL: more than 180,000 performers and producers are invited to the GVL Rights Holders' Assembly.
Following the election week at the beginning of June, GVL will celebrate a premiere on 11 June with ‘GVL Live’, where creatives, labels, newly elected delegates and representatives of the cultural scene will meet in person for the first time in the Festsaal Kreuzberg. The event offers space for exchange, encounters and new impulses from the industry.
The event will be opened with a keynote speech by Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media of the City of Hamburg and President of the German Stage Association.
"The creative industry, and the music industry in particular, has learned to deal with major upheavals. Currently, the rapid development of artificial intelligence is also posing considerable challenges for the cultural scene. Our society will continue to need creative people who bring chaos to the supposed order and enable new ways of thinking and creating. GVL makes a significant contribution to the remuneration of creative services, and events such as the GVL Rights Holders' Assembly and the new “GVL Live” format ensure that we will continue to find ways to pay creative work fairly in the future," emphasises Dr Carsten Brosda.
Following the report by the GVL management, musicologist and musical cabaret artist Dr Pop will build a bridge to the afternoon and show why music is essential for survival, how AI is changing it – and why fair remuneration remains indispensable.
In the afternoon, sessions with industry experts will examine the topic of artificial intelligence from the perspective of creatives, actors and labels.
In three different deep dives, guests will then gain a deeper insight behind the scenes at GVL.
The evening get-together will be accompanied by music from singer Nina ‘Miu’ Graf and DJ Daybee Dee. The event will be moderated by Mia Heresch.
