Sustainability at GVL: A commitment to culture and the environment

With the publication of its first sustainability report, GVL is demonstrating how it fulfils its responsibilities.

GVL has published its first report, “Sustainability at GVL”. In it, the collecting society explains its understanding of sustainability and outlines the goals and measures it is pursuing in this area.

Sustainability as part of our mission

As a collecting society, GVL helps to remunerate creative works so that art and culture can thrive in the long term. For us, sustainability therefore means promoting cultural diversity, using resources responsibly, creating sustainable structures and acting transparently.

Culture is integral to GVL

A distinctive feature of GVL’s understanding of sustainability is the role of culture. Alongside the traditional dimensions of environment, social issues and corporate governance, we regard culture as the fourth dimension of sustainability. This expansion reflects the core of our mission: to promote creative work and strengthen a diverse cultural sector.

A step towards greater transparency

The report was produced as part of our examination of the requirements of European sustainability reporting. Even in the absence of a legal obligation, we have taken this opportunity to take a systematic look at sustainability and to present our activities in a transparent manner.

The report ‘Sustainability at GVL’ is now available to download.
