Overview

International income: Record year 2023

Cooperation and mutual understanding are paramount to us. On the basis of the close exchange with our partners all over the world, we can ensure that the neighbouring rights of our rights holders are also protected across the border. We are pleased about the success in the international section and will continue our efforts to promote the interests of our rights holders.

GVL is looking after its rights holders on a global scale

2023 was a successful year for GVL’s international cooperation. Against the background of high back payments, we managed to pay out a total of EUR 14.6m and thus more revenues than ever from abroad to our rights holders.

Furthermore, we enhanced our international rights portfolio significantly and reached an important milestone: We signed eight new representation agreements for performers and producers and thus tapped into new territories for our rights holders. In 2023, the number of territories GVL is exchanging remuneration with reached 36, and they are governed by 70 agreements; such revenues are passed on to its rights holders without additional deductions.

GVL invites its international partner companies to Berlin

A highlight of our international affairs was the SCAPR working group meeting in October. During the meeting, we welcomed the international working groups of the collective management organisations for performers in our offices. More than 100 international guests of the SCAPR societies met in Berlin to discuss international collaboration. Such an exchange of know-how and new impulses is indispensable. “SCAPR” is the international umbrella association for collective management organisations for performers. More on scapr.org.
