New online portal lizenz.gvl: Licensing further expanded
With the launch of lizenz.gvl in 2025, GVL reached an important milestone in the digitalisation of its licensing processes. The new portal was initially opened to private radio stations and enables the digital processing of applications, contract conclusion, reporting and invoicing. This has enabled existing procedures to be modernised step by step and created a contemporary, user-friendly infrastructure for licence holders.
Web radio stations are added
Over the course of the year, the portal was continuously developed and opened up to additional user groups. Another important development milestone followed in 2026: web radio station operators were integrated into the portal as a further user group.
Simpler administration, faster processes
Overall, the portal is up to date and, thanks to a number of new features, much more user-friendly than the previous solution: licence holders benefit from comprehensive self-service functions, a central document and invoice archive, and significantly simplified management of their contract and billing data. The digital service reduces the administrative burden and speeds up communication between GVL and its contractual partners.
Strengthening the financial foundation
By expanding lizenz.gvl, GVL is laying the groundwork for more efficient licensing. The portal thus makes an important contribution to securing and further developing licence revenue, which forms the financial basis for future distributions to performers and labels.
