Your route to remuneration
A warm welcome to GVL. Thank you for entering a rights administration agreement with us and for having entrusted us with the management of your neighbouring rights.
On this page, we briefly explain the next steps to help you participate in our distributions as quickly as possible so that you receive your money.
In case you have questions on processes or terminology in relation to any GVL matters, you can always get in touch with our Rights Holder Service for Performers. We’re happy to help you!
Your next steps with GVL
1. Register on the online portal for performers
Once you entered into a rights administration agreement with us, you will receive access details to the GVL online portal, meine.gvl. After that, you can logon with your contract number and choose your own password.
2. Submit contribution notifications on meine.gvl
You need to notify us of your contributions to artistic productions via the online portal meine.gvl. To do this, search the relevant productions in our database and enter the nature of your contribution in the online form. Productions are always shown from the middle of the following year after the broadcast on the portal (more info on this in our FAQs).
3. We check the notifications
GVL verifies your notifications and may ask for evidence. We also match the usages of productions on the radio and TV with the contribution notifications of performers.
4. The production must have been played on the radio or on TV
GVL distributes remuneration to performers on the basis of minutes per recording with reported broadcasts by the channels. This means: the higher the rate of exploitation of your recordings by radio and TV stations, the higher your remuneration entitlement.
5. Wait for distribution dates and receive remuneration
GVL distributes monies to its rights holders on a regular basis. In the overview of payout schedules, you can check which distribution run is planned and when.
Everything in one place with our portal
meine.gvl is the GVL online portal for performers who are rights holders. Here, you can register and manage your contributions in order to participate in the GVL payouts. The portal offers various functions to edit the submitted contributions at any time and with little effort. That way, you have full control!
You can also download our comprehensive and regularly updated user manual for the performer portal meine.gvl.

Registration deadlines
Please register your contributions in time via our portal meine.gvl. That is the only way that you can participate in the relevant distributions with your productions. Current deadlines and dates for performers are featured on our website.
GVL talk for performers
We invite performers to open webinars and dialogues with our experts from our relevant departments at regular intervals. We would to provide you with insights into the work of GVL and take a closer look at current topics together. The events are listed on our website.
International rights management
If your productions are used abroad, you can extend your mandate for international rights management via our portal meine.gvl, it is simple and does not cost anything extra. Additional information on topics such as “international rights management by GVL” is included on our website.
Note for self-marketers
We recommend that self-marketers, i.e. creatives who market themselves via their own “artist owned record label”, also enter into a rights administration agreement with GVL as producers. Otherwise, they might lose out on remuneration due to them as part of their label activities. There is more info on GVL on our website for producers of sound recordings.
