For processing, we require the following documents and information in full, preferably by email to heirs@gvl.de. If you prefer to send your documents by post, please find our address at the bottom of our page. 

• a simple copy of the death certificate
• a simple copy of a certificate of inheritance, or
• a simple copy of an opened disposition upon death (will, inheritance contract)
• a simple copy of the ID/passport of all heirs
• in the case of several heirs: a power of attorney to appoint an authorized representative >>> GVL form <<<  

For cross-border inheritance cases:

Within the European Union: a simple copy of a European Certificate of Succession or a judicial/official confirmation of heirship or executorship under the law of the respective member state.

Outside the EU: a formal certificate of inheritance issued by a competent public authority under the law of the deceased’s last habitual residence (e.g. probate, letters of administration, court confirmation of inheritance), if applicable accompanied by an apostille in accordance with the Hague Convention or a legalization to officially confirm the authenticity of the document.

• Date(s) of birth of the heir(s)
• Address(es) of the heir(s)
• Bank details of the heirs
