What does Production Music Online Only (PMOO) mean?
In contrast to streaming services, Production Music Online Only (PMOO) refers to “functional music” that is not usually available in stores and is frequently used online, comparable to the genre of archive music. The counterpart to production music is the so-called chart repertoire.
This refers to online uses that are not related to linear broadcasting, such as contributions in media libraries that were not broadcast in the linear program at all. These can be, for example, supplementary thematic background videos, additional interviews, etc. FUNK, the public service program for a young target group, also has content that is only available online. In this case, the broadcasters report the website hits for the formats containing the relevant repertoire to GVL. The repertoire is defined by the producers who have assigned us the mandate for production music. Essentially, these are the producers who are organized in the GPMA (German Production Music Association).
Remuneration is only paid to artists who have contributed to the productions of the mandated producers. Please contact your label to find out whether the mandate also covers rights for online use independent of broadcast (online only).
