What is the IPN and where can I find it?

What is the IPN?

The IPN ("International Performers Number") is a unique identification number which is used by GVL and our international partners to identify individual artists in sound recordings and audiovisual works more quickly and thus also to claim their contributions abroad in a more targeted manner.

Where can I find the IPN?

You can view it in the "My Data" section under "Personal data".

Who assigns the IPN?

The IPN is assigned and administered by our international umbrella organization SCAPR (Societies' Council for the Collective Management of Performers Rights). The IPN is a central component in the exchange of music repertoire, usage notifications and participations in the collective rights management of collecting societies worldwide. All beneficiaries of GVL have been assigned an IPN.

What are the advantages of the IPN?

By assigning an IPN as a unique identifier for an artist, the exchange of information between the sister societies is improved. This makes the distribution of remuneration more precise and the identification of rights holders progressively easier.

With the help of the IPN, you as a performing artist will be found exactly where you participated in the international context.
