Biere follows Szperalski as appointed Board member / Karmeier re-elected for another three years

Gerhard Szperalski left the GVL Board with effect from 31 December 2012. Szperalski had been a Board member since 1993. He last participated in a Board meeting on 20 November 2012 and was already given his farewell by his fellow Board members then.

"We would like to thank Gerhard Szperalski for his many years of committed support to the Board. It is not only in the recently very intensive phase of the transition of our distribution system for artists, that he has contributed in a constructive and competent manner", stress Dr. Tilo Gerlach and Guido Evers, GVLs Managing Directors.

Successor to Szperalski for the group of orchestra members shall be Hans Reinhard Biere with immediate effect. Biere has been appointed by the German Orchestra Association (DOV) and the Federal Association of the Music Industry (BVMI), GVL's associates, following the proposal by the DOV, for a term in office of three years up to 31 December 2015. Biere is a member of the WDR symphony orchestra Cologne as well as first president of the broadcast committee of the DOV. "I look forward to the cooperation with GVL and my fellow Board members and intend to continue to represent the interests of orchestra members with my full commitment", Biere announced.

In addition to Biere's appointment, the DOV confirmed Hartmut Karmeier, Chairman of the Board, as a Board member for another three years in office.
