GVL welcomes the foundation of an academy for a new pop music award

The German pop music scene will be enhanced by a new award which is intended to recognise the diversity and quality of the various genres within popular music. As a main associate of Initiative Music, GVL welcomes the foundation of the academy for the pop music award.

The pop music award is thus adding another important for the music scene in Germany to the awards APPLAUS and the German Jazz Award which have already been called into life by Initiative Music.  Initiative Music provides a harbour for the academy of the new award which has been initiated by the Federal Minister for Culture and Media, Monika Grütters.

Detlev Tiemann, member of the Board of Initiative Music and Chairman of the Assembly of Shareholders and Delegates of GVL, says: “With the creation of the academy, Initiative Music has laid the foundation of granting a pop music award in future. I am very glad that so many creatives with a broad artistic expertise are ready to get involved. The high-calibre people in the academy ensure that the award will be an honour for performers to receive. For me, as a GVL representative, there is a welcome side aspect to this: The majority of the 25 well-known foundation members are GVL rights holders.
