GVL welcomes the plans of the “traffic light coalition” to anchor culture as a national objective

Culture should be a national objective and anchored into the German constitution. “By doing so, culture, in its diversity, is acknowledged as a fixed and characterising feature of our social DNA”, say Tilo Gerlach and Guido Evers, Managing Directors of GVL.

Yesterday afternoon, the “traffic light coalition” made up of the socialist party (SPD), the Green Party (Grüne) and the Liberal Democrats (FDP) presented their coalition agreement, at least 78 hits for the key word are shown if you search the 177-page strong document. One item is particularly important to us: Culture should be a national objective and anchored into the German constitution.

Tilo Gerlach and Guido Evers, Managing Directors of GVL add: “With a view to our rights holders, we are very pleased that the intention is to implement culture as a State objective into the constitution. We have been campaigning for this for a long time. Especially in times like these, such a signal for an alive and sustainable cultural landscape is absolutely necessary. By doing so, culture, in its diversity, is acknowledged as a fixed and characterising feature of our social DNA.”
