MIZ reception at Classical:NEXT

GVL at the meeting of international music information centres

This week, the classical music community gathered in Berlin for Classical:NEXT. Around 2,000 participants attended the trade fair to exchange ideas, take part in numerous events and enjoy evening concerts. Josephine Baenisch, head of the Classical Music and Orchestras group in the Rights Holders Service, represented GVL at the international event.

Part of the programme was the reception hosted by the Music Information Centre and sponsored by GVL, which Josephine Baenisch opened together with MIZ President Stephan Schulmeistrat. In the small circle, she met Saale Kareda (Director of the Music Information Centre Estonia) and Antje Valentin (Secretary General of the German Music Council), among others. During the event, the MIZ also presented a recent study on ‘Identities, roles and challenges of classical music festivals’.

‘Events like this are relevant and important to us at GVL, as they show how lively and exciting the world of classical music is outside the concert hall. The next generation of talented performers is waiting in the wings, the influence of digital communication channels is enormous, and the audience is helping to shape cultural developments.’
