Performers: Final distribution 2020 started

As of today, GVL pays out the remuneration of the final distribution for 2020 to its entitled artists.

With this final distribution, GVL concludes the distribution for the usage year 2020. All funds, including provisions, that are available to us for this year will be distributed.

In total, around €20.2 million will be paid out in the final distribution for 2020. 170,872 performing artists participated in the distribution. These are all rights holders who have reported their contributions to used productions by the deadline.

With the final distribution 2020, GVL is following the regular distribution cycle for the second year in a row. The payout rates for subsequent distributions are now significantly higher than in previous years because less money has to be withheld until the final distribution. The background article “The distribution backlog is no more” explains what this means for rights holders.

Sandy Backhaus, Head of the Rights Holders Service for performers, adds:

„A final distribution is always a happy and special event for us at GVL too, because it marks the end of a distribution year. And the next final distribution for 2021 is practically already in the starting blocks! We would therefore like to kindly remind all our rights-holding performers to report their relevant contributions to us by December 31, 2024.“

Notes on payout notifications

We will notify performers who receive a payout by email as soon as a current payout notification is available in my.gvl. Heirs will receive their payout notification by post. Single heirs can access it via the rights holders' or testators' account.

The detailed reports with the breakdown of your remuneration claims will also be available via my.gvl after two weeks at the latest.
