GVL rights holders' meeting 2025: 22 delegates elected

Berlin, 6 June 2025. Around 180,000 artists and producers were called upon to take part in this year's delegate elections and elect their representatives at the GVL members' meeting from 2 to 5 June 2025.
The results are now in: the 22 newly elected delegates of the GVL.

As part of the online elections, those eligible voted for their 22 delegates and their substitute delegates for the coming term of office. They represent the interests of over 180,000 GVL rights holders in the GuDV, the shareholders' and delegates' meeting.

GVL Managing Director Guido Evers emphasises the importance of the committee: ‘The GuDV is the central body for co-determination for our eligible members. It ensures transparency and democratic participation and provides GVL with important impetus for its strategic development.’

Significant increase in the proportion of women in the GuDV

In the run-up to the election, GVL had specifically called on women to stand as candidates. Back in November last year, GVL shareholders unanimously decided to explicitly enshrine the goal of balanced representation of all genders in the partnership agreement.

GVL Managing Director Dr Tilo Gerlach commented on the developments: "We expressly wanted more women in particular to become actively involved in the work of the GVL committees – and we are very pleased that many responded to this appeal and were also elected. The significant increase in the proportion of women is an important signal for greater diversity and representation in our committees – and thus a clear step towards GVL's future viability."

The election was once again supervised by Prof. Christian Höppner, President of the German Cultural Council and himself a GVL beneficiary as a cellist and conductor.

GVL Live in Berlin: Inform, network, celebrate

The 2025 rights holders' meeting will continue next week at the GVL Live event on 11 June 2025 in Berlin's Festsaal Kreuzberg. GVL Live will not only offer insights into current developments at GVL, but also in-depth sessions – for example on artificial intelligence – and intensive deep dives into the world of collecting societies.

Keynote speakers on stage will include Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media of the City of Hamburg, and musical cabaret artist Dr Pop, who takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the industry. The event will be moderated by Mia Heresch.
