GVL pays out second instalment of the scholarship programme

In the past year, it was difficult for many creatives to earn money in their field of work due to the pandemic. The GVL scholarship in the framework of NEUSTART KULTUR amounting to EUR 5,000 served to support performers to weather this period of hardship. It is set up to be paid in two instalments across a period of four months. Up to the end of last year, about 5,500 performers received their first instalment of EUR 4,500. Now, the second instalment of EUR 500 is due to be paid out.

GVL welcomes the foundation of an academy for a new pop music award

The pop music award is thus adding another important for the music scene in Germany to the awards APPLAUS and the German Jazz Award which have already been called into life by Initiative Music.  Initiative Music provides a harbour for the academy of the new award which has been initiated by the Federal Minister for Culture and Media, Monika Grütters.

GVL promotes OPUS KLASSIK 2020

Granting this prize is an important sign in these difficult times for the German creative sector, that is why GVL is particularly pleased that it is going to support the awards ceremony as part of its politico-cultural grants. Warm congratulations to all prize winners of the Opus Klassik, in particular Stephan Frucht, who is also a Delegate of GVL for the conductors.

Initiative Musik implements several sub-programmes of NEUSTART KULTUR

The central funding agency of the German government and the music industry will be subsidised with additional funds totalling 117 million Euros by Monika Grütters, Minister of State for Culture. NEUSTART KULTUR is intended to support the cultural and creative sectors and make the work of performers and cultural life possible again.

Interim report on corona relief programmes and advance payments

GVL is doing everything possible to provide the best possible support in this exceptional situation. In order to be able to provide visible help in the short and medium term, we established the € 250 emergency aid programme for freelance corona victims as quickly as possible in mid-March, which has since been taken up by well over 7,000 freelancers.

Further corona support measures for planned for rightsholders

In addition to the "emergency relief", for which GVL will provide up to €4 million as part of its grants, other possibilities for short-term support, such as advance payments on future distributions, are also being firmed up. Rightsholders should be able to benefit from these measures as soon as possible.

GVL plans to provide further assistance

As an emergency measure, the GVL pays 250 Euros to its freelance rightsholders for the cancellation of concerts and productions, so that they at least have a financial margin for the most necessary things. In addition, the GVL Committees are currently discussing further measures. The aim is to provide the GVL's rightsholders with a financial buffer in the coming months so that they can cope better with everyday life.
