Initiative Musik supports the music business in Germany in its focus areas pop and rock music and jazz. GVL is the main associate of Initiative Musik. We spoke to the two Managing Directors, Ina Keßler and Tina Sikorski about their positive review after a year of dual leadership and about the most recent developments in the cultural promotion sector.
Today, the GVL begins paying out artist royalties as part of the initial distribution 2020 and the subsequent distributions 2017 to 2019. A total of €88.3 million will be additionally distributed to entitled persons in this distribution.
GVL will be present at the Reeperbahn Festival on 23, 24 and 25 September with workshop sessions.
GVL started the distribution to producers for sound recordings as scheduled: Apart from the initial distribution for the 2020 usage year, distribution runs for 2017 to 2019 were also carried out.
Since 9 August, freelance artists or project-based performers can apply with GVL for the scholarship programme of the collective management organisations, NEUSTART KULTUR which has been set up by the Federal Ministry for Culture and Media. GVL has now paid out the first scholarships.
The German pop music scene will be enhanced by a new award which is intended to recognise the diversity and quality of the various genres within popular music. As a main associate of Initiative Music, GVL welcomes the foundation of the academy for the pop music award.
The application portal www.gvl-stipendienprogramm.de hosts plenty of information and will be open with immediate effect. Each approved artistic project will be supported with EUR 5,000.
In the context of the scholarship programme of the collective management organisations in NEUSTART KULTUR which has been set up by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, GVL is planning to offer a scholarship programme of €30m.
The Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten mbH (GVL) presented its annual accounts for 2020 at its Assembly of Shareholders and Delegates (GuDV) on 22 June 2021. With EUR 216.1m (2019: EUR 215.5m, +0.3%), the annual result is significantly above the estimates at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
