Artists can conclude GVL representation agreements online with immediate effect

Artists who are entitled to receive remuneration can enter into representation agreements with GVL with immediate effect - and it’s easy and user-friendly. The online form is - for the time being - avail-able to national and international artists who have not yet entered into a representation agreement with GVL on GVL’s website.

The new online form guides the user through the registration process - step by step: Once the user has completed entering and checking the necessary data for contractual partners, the electronically generated pdf document, including the allocated personal contract number, can be printed off in duplicate and be posted to GVL. The contract number will help to speed up processing of individual issues in future. As soon as GVL receives the posted documents, the artist receives an e-mail confirming the progress of the process regarding the conclusion of the agreement. Once GVL has the complete set of documents and if the artist fulfils the conditions to become a GVL member, GVL provides the artist with access to the online database ARTSYS.GVL.

As a legally binding document, the GVL representation agreement still requires a signature on the new, printed online form, and needs to be submitted to GVL as an original document. Dr. Tilo Gerlach and Guido Evers, GVL Managing Directors, add: “It is nevertheless our intention to offer a service which is as digitised as possible, once internal processes and the legal framework allow us to do so.”

In future, the online form will also become available to artists with existing contractual relationships with GVL as well as for any other rights holder groups (labels, event organisers and video clip producers).
