GVL mourns its Board member Frank Dostal
“We are saddened and shocked by the sudden and unexpected death of our Board member, Frank Dostal, who has served GVL for many years. The German music landscape has lost an outstanding talent with an extraordinary amount of knowledge and experience. Since 1993, Frank Dostal had been a Board member of GVL, actively standing up for artists’ rights; not many knew the neighbouring rights society as well as he did. For many years, he was also involved in the Tariff, Distribution and Complaints Committees, always highly committed to the interest of all rights holders. Frank Dostal was a man for whom fairness and justice stood above everything else and who was brave enough to raise critical questions and point out his concerns. His honesty and directness, paired with humour and enjoyment of holistic sustainable solutions made him a great asset for the GVL Board and its committeesDuring a phase of profound changes to GVL over the last few years,he accompanied us with great expertise and Hanseatic steadfastness - and con-structive criticism throughout.
To our sadness our journey with Frank Dostal found its end by this April. Our thoughts are with his wife and children. We will sorely miss him.”
