Information regarding the start of the performer distribution: Subsequent distributions 2015-2017, initial distribution 2019

On 25/11/2020, GVL will begin with the payouts of the performer remuneration as part of its initial distribution 2019 and the subsequent distributions 2015 to 2018. In total, €57.7m will be additionally distributed to rights holders. See below for more details on this regular distribution.

Dear rights holders,

Tomorrow, GVL will begin with the payouts of the remuneration in the course of its initial distribution 2019 (except music video clips) and the subsequent distributions 2015 to 2018. 

Please note:

  • Just like in the last regular distribution, you will get two payout notifications in future, due to the different VAT regulations. One for the amounts from collection services (e.g. private copying, rental/lending) and one for amounts from what is known as rights assignment (e.g. broadcasts). These categories are also marked in the detailed report/statement accordingly (under “makeup of the total amount”). Despite separate distribution documents, the payment to you will be made in a joint transfer of the entire payment amount.
  • In the case of the revenues of the first and subsequent distributions the amounts in question are always sub-totals. The final remuneration for the relevant distribution year will always be calculated as part of the closing distribution once the registration phase spanning several years has lapsed. Against this background, it is possible that there will be offsets in the subsequent distributions.

For rights holders who have received advance payments in the course of the corona relief scheme regarding payouts of the subsequent years until 2029, the following shall also apply:

  • The advance payments shall be only offset against the remuneration from the rights assignment, not with the remuneration from the collection services. What this means specifically is that you will get remuneration transfers arising from collection services even though the advance payment has not been fully offset yet.  In the course of future regular distributions, the remuneration arising from collection services and rights assignment shall be offset against one another. 

Your payout notifications (PN) will be stored, as usual, in your my.GVL account:

Log in at my.gvl.de with your access data. Click on “services” and then “my data” then “payouts”. Under “remuneration”, the respective detailed report/statement will be stored in the coming two weeks. Legal successors usually get their payout notification by post.
