Payout period postponement: Information on our distributions
The modification of the distribution sequence is necessary in order to ensure a flawless and frictionless process of multiple and simultaneous distribution runs.
Overview of the pending distributions and new dates
Performers
- The delays especially affect the initial distribution for usage year 2017 as well as the subsequent distribution for usage year 2016 for productions in the categories sound recordings and TV broadcasts (repeat repertoire).
- Music video clip distributions for usage years 2016/2017 are expected to commence in the 4th quarter 2018.
- We are currently focussing all of our resources to prepare and implement the initial distribution 2017 as well as the closing (final) distribution 2013. Against this background, we currently have to postpone the subsequent distributions, especially for the years 2014 and 2015.
Producers
The four distribution runs from mid-November include:
- the initial distribution for sound recordings for usage year 2017,
- the fourth distribution run for sound recordings for usage year 2016,
- the initial distribution for music video clip remuneration for usage year 2016,
- the initial distribution for music video clip remuneration for usage year 2017.
The identification of existing rights conflicts and the making available of the conflict information to producers will take place in October.
Background:
We regret very much that we have to postpone the already scheduled and announced pay-out dates. Nevertheless, the successive sequence of numerous distribution runs - parallel for artists and producers - cannot be executed in any other way from an organisational point of view. The reason for the delay of the distributions are the still ongoing technical adaptations to our new IT systems landscape and additionally necessary data cleaning procedures. Unfortunately, we are also facing the challenge this year that the data we require are not yet submitted to us in harmonised data formats or quality standards. This complicates the data reconciliation and requires more time and technical resources than planned.
