Three-country meeting of collecting societies

The three joint societies for neighbouring rights in the DACH region met this week at GVL in Berlin.

On 10 and 11 April 2024, the collecting societies for neighbouring rights in the DACH region met in Berlin. GVL hosted the event and warmly welcomed colleagues from Swissperform in Zurich and LSG in Vienna.

The agenda of the annual event included a general exchange of experiences as well as the presentation of best practices and current technical and legal issues. Discussions also focussed on opportunities for closer cooperation.

"We appreciate the fruitful and collaborative dialogue that this retreat enables."

"We naturally work particularly closely with our German-speaking sister societies. With this meeting, we want to take the time once a year, outside of our operational business, to take a closer look together at key topics relating to licensing and the framework conditions for data exchange," emphasise GVL Managing Directors Guido Evers and Tilo Gerlach. "We appreciate the fruitful and cooperative exchange that this retreat makes possible."

As joint societies, all three collecting societies represent both performing artists and producers. They are also linked by the German-language repertoire, which plays a central role in the exploitation of rights in all three countries.

The next meeting of GVL, LSG and Swissperform is already being planned.
