Bundesverband Schauspiel e.V. (BFFS) becomes GVL's third associate
“We cordially welcome the Federal Acting Association as a new associate of GVL and look forward to a good collaboration”, said Dr. Tilo Gerlach and Guido Evers, GVL Managing Directors.
GVL received the application of the BFFS to be accepted as an associate in October 2018. After the application was verified, the BFFS was accepted as an associate with effect from 01/08/2019. Bernhard F. Störkmann, Executive Counsel of the BFFS, is going to be the associate representative for the BFFS. “We are really pleased to have moved even closer to the GVL family and to be able to walk the path together in future”, mentioned Störkmann. “As a co-associate of GVL, we want to strengthen the rights of artists further and to support GVL in its own development with our expertise.”
“As a founding associate of GVL, the German Orchestra Association welcomes the Federal Acting Association as a new co-associate. We are pleased to get some reinforcements for the representation of the artists’ side within GVL” expressed Gerald Mertens, Managing Director of the German Orchestra Association (DOV).
Dr. Florian Drücke, Chairman & CEO of the Federal Association of the Music Industry (BVMI): “Welcome in the circle of associates! GVL plays an important role in the universe of creatives and their partners, there is a lot to do and I am pleased that we will have the BFFS with its expertise on our side.”
GVL’s committee structure
Against the background of the new Collecting Societies Act (VGG) the GVL has adapted its Articles of Association as well as its organisational structure. By doing so, the prerequisite to be able to accept new associates has been created.
At the core of GVL’s committees stands the Associates’ and Delegates’ Assembly. It is made up of its associates – BVMI, DOV and, with immediate effect, the BFFS – as well as the 22 delegates that have been elected in the course of the Rights’ Holders’ Assembly. The Associates’ Assembly also elects a supervisory committee where one representative per rights holder category (artists, producers) monitors the work of the Managing Directors.
The BFFS takes its associates’ shares from the DOV which holds the shares of all artists’ associations in a fiduciary capacity. The BVMI shares remain unchanged. The commercial register entry is being carried out at the moment. GVL’s Articles of Association are going to be adapted accordingly as soon as possible and expanded by the BFFS.
About GVL:
Those who render artistic performances or create the respective financial basis for the latter must receive money for the exploitation of their performances. GVL, the society for the administration of neighbouring rights, captures and manages such exploitations. GVL pays the fees it collects on a fiduciary basis e.g. from radio and TV stations and for the communication to the public (e.g. in restaurants or cafés) to its members in the form of a remuneration each year. More than 160,000 performers, producers of sound recordings and audiovisual recordings, music and music video clip producers as well as event organisers have placed their trust in GVL on a global level - and thus make GVL one of the biggest collective management organisations and music licensing companies for neighbouring rights in the world. Shareholders of GVL are the German Orchestra Association (DOV), the Federal Association of the Music Industry (BVMI), the Federal Acting Association (BFFS) and the Association of Independent Musicians and Music Companies e.V.(VUT).
