Dear rights holders,
Tomorrow, GVL will begin with the payouts of the remuneration in the course of its initial distribution 2019 (except music video clips) and the subsequent distributions 2015 to 2018.
Please note:
Dear GVL members,
At the beginning of September we informed you that you can now report your contributions to productions of the open GVL sub-budgets (e.g. commercials, jingles, documentary formats). For this purpose we have set up an online form on our homepage.
We would kindly like to remind you to notify us by 31.12.2020 of your contributions to the relevant products in case they were broadcast from 2010 to 2014, so that we can remunerate them.
The open GVL sub-budgets include:
Due to additional subsequent notifications and further allocation of broadcast reports, also by way of the claims for open usages which many producers have submitted, we were able to continue to increase the distribution quotas of the years 2016 to 2018 and for the years 2016 and 2017 to more than 90%.
Furthermore, we achieved an overall distribution quota of 81 percent for usage year 2019, not least due to a significant share of better-quality broadcast data based on fingerprinting.
In this context, there are deadlines and new processes that you need to observe, since they are supported by the producer portal label.gvl.
In the course of the online seminar, Dirk Löwenberg (Responsible for the rights holder service for producers and event organisers) is going to provide information regarding the most important deadlines and procedures linked to the scheduled final distribution for 2016 to the producers of sound recordings.
Afterwards, there will be sufficient time for individual questions.
When: 24/09/2020 at 5.00pm
With the closing distribution, GVL is concluding the distribution for the usage years 2013 and 2014. All funds, including reserves that are available to us for these years, will be distributed. The budget for the closing distribution increased again in July this year thanks to additional payments for private copying (ZPÜ). These funds will now be distributed to all rights holders who have submitted their contributions in productions with usages in 2013 and 2014.
In order to forward collections by CMOs abroad, GVL needs to process the payment information it receives from its sister organisations and, in some cases, allocate lump-sum payments individually to its rights holders. Due to the diversity of the data, this sometimes takes more time. In addition, the receipt of the remuneration depends on the respective distributions of the sister organisations and is bundled across several years.
Please note: If you have already received advance payments for regular distributions in the past, we must process your distributions manually. Therefore, it may take about two weeks before your payout is processed.
GVL is doing everything possible to provide the best possible support in this exceptional situation. In order to be able to provide visible help in the short and medium term, we established the € 250 emergency aid programme for freelance corona victims as quickly as possible in mid-March, which has since been taken up by well over 7,000 freelancers.
These payments on account, to be transferred at the end of May, are an exceptional kind of advance for performers on future distributions. The amount is not yet fixed, it depends on the number of participants and the individual expected claims from the distributions of the next years.
The advance payment made by GVL will be offset against the future remuneration to which they are entitled. Only when the advance payment has been fully covered by future remuneration for the years will new payouts be made again.
