Apart from international gigs the festival also offers a number of events on exciting contents for international trade visitors. From 21 to 24 September, in the course of 130 different sessions, talks, networking events and interviews about twelve topic groups, 350 speakers and presenters provide insights into the current challenges and issues with respect to live entertainment, recorded music, media and journalism, among others. 

Overall, Guido Evers and Dr Tilo Gerlach, Managing Directors of GVL, give a positive review for 2022 and the COVID-19 times: “We managed to yield satisfactory results in the third pandemic year running. Furthermore, we navigated GVL through these changing times with economic success and achieved historic maximum levels for our payouts. A few days ago, the new rights administration agreement has been published on the GVL website. What does this mean for GVL and its future rights holders specifically?

Jenny: GVL takes an important step in the direction of a paperless collective management organisation by opting for the new online rights administration agreement. Rights holders now have no longer paper in their hands, the entire process has been digitised entirely with the new rights administration agreement.

These days, collective rights management also means that huge data volumes must be processed.

The time for a double final distribution is over from 2023. Time to rejoice?

For GVL, the answer is a clear yes. After all, it means that we managed to finally dissolve the long backlog that we had for years when it comes to the final distributions. And for our rights holders, it means they get paid more quickly in the end.
