Your route to remuneration
A warm welcome to GVL. On this page, we would like to briefly explain the steps to help you participate in our distributions as quickly as possible and receive your money.
In case you have questions on the process or terminology in relation to any GVL matters, you can always get in touch with our Rights Holder Service for Producers and Event Organisers. We’re happy to help you!
Your next steps at GVL if you are a producer
1. Obtain a label code and take login data to hand
Once you entered into a rights administration agreement with us, you will receive your label code and access to the GVL online portal, label.gvl.
2. Register your repertoire on label.gvl.
You need to provide GVL with your repertoire metadata on a per-track basis via our portal label.gvl. Whatever is easiest for you: Upload it in excel format, enter it via the producer portal input mask or submit the data via DDEX RDR.
3. Check and resolve any rights conflicts
In the repertoire overview, label.gvl shows you where you might have any rights conflicts that you may need to resolve. You can edit your rights ownership online all the way through to resolving your conflicts.
4. The track must have been played on the radio or on TV
GVL distributes remuneration to producers on the basis of the minutes transmitted per recording that the broadcasters have reported. This means: the higher the rate of exploitation of your recordings by radio and TV stations, the higher your remuneration entitlement.
5. Wait for the distribution dates
GVL pays out money to its rights holders at certain periods that are determined each year. In the overview of payout schedules, you can check which distribution run is planned for which period.
Everything in one place with our portal
label.gvl is the online portal of GVL for producers of sound recordings and audiovisual recordings, i.e. rights holders. Here, you can register and manage your repertoire in order to participate in the GVL payouts. The portal offers various functions to edit the rights ownership at any time and with little effort. That way, you have full control!
From broadcast reports to payouts
In order to participate in distributions, producers must register their repertoire data, including rights ownerships with GVL for each recording and in time via the producer online portal label.gvl.
Track-by-track payment
With the registered repertoire on label.gvl, GVL can make a definitive allocation of the played tracks on the radio and TV channels. Based on the annual broadcast minute of a label, a per-track payout of your remuneration is then made to you.
