GVL Board: Lars Johna succeeds Jana Vejmelka (Board member producers of sound recordings)

GVL welcomed Lars Johna to the Board. The 46-year-old is successor to Jana Vejmelka and is an elected Board member for the group of producers of sound recordings.

Jana Vejmelka had been elected as a representative at the rights holders' assembly on 15 May 2012 for the group of producers of sound recordings to the Board of GVL. The 30-year-old now resigned from office as she is no longer active in the music industry (previously: with Sony classical international). As per GVL Articles of Association, in cases where a Board member resigns, the respective runner-up in that group moves up: In this case, it is Lars Johna who had received the second most votes at the rights holders' assembly during the election procedure.

"We regret Jana Vejmelka's stepping down very much. At the same time we would like to thank her for the cooperation and wish her all the best for her professional future", says Guido Evers, Managing Director at GVL responsible for producers' affairs. "By having Lars Johna as a new Board member, we gain someone who can bring his perspective as a representative for indie labels into this important committee."

Lars Johna's professional background lies primarily with software development; he has been running the indie label "musiclab records" for many years. Johna adds: "I look forward to the cooperation with GVL and my fellow Board members. With my indie label, I represent more than 50 artists and I intend to actively look after the interests of independent producers and artists in particular as a Board member."
