GVL signs ‘Statement on AI training’
GVL supports the call for regulation of generative AI formulated by Ed Newton-Rex. The short and clear statement warns of the consequences for the livelihoods of all those creatives whose works are used without permission as the basis for AI models. Unlicensed use would have fatal consequences for the economic basis of creatives and their partners.
In doing so, GVL is following more than 35,000 signatories from around the world in their desire for a set of rules for fair and transparent interaction between performers and generative artificial intelligence.
The statement in full:
‘The unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI is a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works, and must not be permitted.’
