The Themis centre against sexual harassment and assault has been advising affected members of the music business since the end of 2021. Together with the Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI) and the Verband unabhängiger Musikunternehmer*innen e.V (VUT), GVL is financing another part-time position which will be filled to specifically provide advice for music business employees.

Employees from the music business who have been subject to sexual harassment or assault in the working place can now contact the centre in a confidential, and, if desired, anonymous manner in order to talk about what they went through and to get legal advice or psychological counsel.

In the past few years, the Themis centre has established itself as a point of contact against sexual harassment in the film, TV and theatre sector. The cause of the centre does, however, affect the entire creative sector. We consequently felt that it was very important to support the work and the expansion of the Themis centre together with the two central players, the music industry associations BVMI and VUT. By doing so, we are making a contribution to push forward the cultural change and the sensitisation for this important topic, also in the music industry.
