GVL supports the call for regulation of generative AI formulated by Ed Newton-Rex. The short and clear statement warns of the consequences for the livelihoods of all those creatives whose works are used without permission as the basis for AI models. Unlicensed use would have fatal consequences for the economic basis of creatives and their partners.

The GVL represents around 12,000 actors and dubbing actors. The Bundesverband Schauspiel (BFFS) is one of the four associates of the GVL. We spoke to BFFS chair Leslie Malton about the current situation of her fellow actors and the challenges facing the industry.
In this edition, we are looking back on a rather eventful 2022. GVL income has significantly exceeded our expectations with an amount of €235.4m in 2022. When looking back on the three COVID-19-years, GVL managed to navigate its way through the challenging times of the past years rather successfully. At the same time, we used this period to undertake crucial steps regarding the technical and organisational development of GVL.
