Head of GVL department becomes a jury member for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Awards

From 20 outstanding albums, the jury of the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Awards will select their 10 favourites in a first step. The eleven-member jury will meet for the first time next week. Two weeks later, the jury will nominate the winner, which will also be influenced by the results of a three-day online vote by music fans worldwide.

Producers: Successful start of the 2019 initial distribution 2019 and subsequent distributions for 2016 to 2018 (sound recordings)

Due to additional subsequent notifications and further allocation of broadcast reports, also by way of the claims for open usages which many producers have submitted, we were able to continue to increase the distribution quotas of the years 2016 to 2018 and for the years 2016 and 2017 to more than 90%.

Furthermore, we achieved an overall distribution quota of 81 percent for usage year 2019, not least due to a significant share of better-quality broadcast data based on fingerprinting.

GVL Online Seminar: Important information and deadlines regarding the final distribution of sound recordings for producers for the 2016 usage year

In this context, there are deadlines and new processes that you need to observe, since they are supported by the producer portal label.gvl.

In the course of the online seminar, Dirk Löwenberg (Responsible for the rights holder service for producers and event organisers) is going to provide information regarding the most important deadlines and procedures linked to the scheduled final distribution for 2016 to the producers of sound recordings.

Afterwards, there will be sufficient time for individual questions.

Initiative Musik implements several sub-programmes of NEUSTART KULTUR

The central funding agency of the German government and the music industry will be subsidised with additional funds totalling 117 million Euros by Monika Grütters, Minister of State for Culture. NEUSTART KULTUR is intended to support the cultural and creative sectors and make the work of performers and cultural life possible again.

Report on the extraordinary meeting of the GudV (Assembly of Shareholders and Delegates)

The agreed adjustments in the distribution regulations for performers provide the basis for the distribution of remuneration for the years 2010 to 2016 in 2021. Open budgets include docusoaps and other documentary productions, individual contributions in audiovisual productions, jingles, commercials on television and radio, and title and background music in audiovisual productions and radio plays.

GVL pays out remuneration from international distributions

In order to forward collections by CMOs abroad, GVL needs to process the payment information it receives from its sister organisations and, in some cases, allocate lump-sum payments individually to its rights holders.  Due to the diversity of the data, this sometimes takes more time. In addition, the receipt of the remuneration depends on the respective distributions of the sister organisations and is bundled across several years.

GVL online seminar for producers: The new producer portal label.gvl

The new version contains many extensions and additional functions and possibilities for repertoire management and conflict resolution. In this online seminar, Dirk Löwenberg (Head  of the Rights Holders Service for Producers & Event Organisers) will guide you through the new portal and present the various new features. The focus will be on showing how rights ownerships can be processed with little effort and what possibilities there are for a simple conflict resolution thanks to the new features.
