We currently have not received enough notifications regarding the productions used in 2013. As a collective management organisation, we are obliged to ensure that as many rights owners as possible get paid, and would like to ensure this by extending the deadline. Furthermore, www.artsys.gvl.de was also not available throughout.

In order to be able to duly and diligently process your additional contribution registrations we will postpone the final distribution 2013 to the 2nd/3rd quarter 2019.

The modification of the distribution sequence is necessary in order to ensure a flawless and frictionless process of multiple and simultaneous distribution runs.

Overview of the pending distributions and new dates

The Directive stipulates a stronger responsibility for internet platforms and clear regulations in terms of the Urhebervertragsrecht [copyright contract law]. One particular objective is to close the so-called “Value Gap” between platforms and creatives. The intention is to force platforms such as YouTube to filter new contents before their publication and check whether they are due any due licensing remuneration. Currently, contents are only deleted retrospectively if copyright infringements have been actively indicated.

Similarly for broadcasters and webcasters: from now the easiest way for us to find you on our system will be via the new GVL-ID, and no longer via the previous customer number.

The GVL-ID acts as the unique identifier for all our members. Heirs or power of attorneys will also receive their own GVL-ID. If you are represented with us in multiple categories (e.g. artist and producers, artist and heir) you will have several GVL-IDs.

Producers taking part in the follow-up distribution will, as usual, find detailed reports and broadcast analyses for the usage year 2016 including the previously allocated broadcast minutes as of week 27 on label.gvl.

Should payouts be due after the deduction of previous payments based on this distribution result, you will find the relevant payout information outlined there too.

From today GVL begins with the artists’ original payout for the distribution year 2016. For this restricted distribution however, only remunerations relating to used recurring repertoire from 2016 will initially be paid out.

The corresponding registration deadline to report your videoclip repertoire with usage in 2016 and 2017 will end on June 30, 2018.
