In line with this motto, it is GVL's members that are the focal point of this new 16-page publication: "We specifically renounced on depicting artists and producers' representatives by replacing them with models.

Biere has been a member of the Board since January 2013 and had been appointed by the German Orchestra Association (DOV) as a representative for the orchestra participants' group. Biere is also a member of the GVL Board's tariff and distribution committee. In May 2015, he had been elected to be first chairman of the entire DOV Board. Born in Eastern Westfalia, he plays the violin in the WDR Symphony Orchestra and in the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.

'Our duty as collective management organisation also entails to protect cultural diversity. As a consequence, we are even more shocked by the fact that this precious cultural asset is attacked in such an unacceptable manner", emphasise GVL Managing Directors Dr. Tilo Gerlach and Guido Evers. "In the name of more than 140,000 members, who have their roots in many countries around the world, we speak out against intolerance and violence against refugees."

This re-flects the high value of creative performances to which our artists, producers and event organisers contrib-ute", state Guido Evers and Tilo Gerlach. The two Managing Directors of GVL add: "It is with even greater pleasure that we can also present a cost rate prior to write-offs of 6.8% which reflects our emphasis on managing our members' rights as efficiently as possible." The cost rate in the previous year was 7.1%.

Any contributions that were registered via ARTSYS.GVL for said media sections have been migrated across to the new portal and now have to be managed via gvl artsys tv. With this new section, we reached another milestone on the path to developing a new GVL artists' portal.

What's new in gvl artsys tv?

After giving a general introduction to GVL and its operational remit, our speakers will demonstrate how artists can use our online portal ARTSYS.GVL effectively, how to register their contributions and thus how to create the basis for subsequent payments of remuneration to them. All pages of our German website are now available in English. Visitors can switch between the German and English version of the website by clicking on the language choices in the top right hand area of the website. The actual language choice affects the currently selected page. Both language versions can also be accessed via mobile devices. 

The injunction prohibits Sonixcast from creating the false impression that web radio operators in Germany can legally broadcast in Germany with a licence of the Canadian authors' society SOCAN. In fact, this licence does not cover neighbouring rights and obligations to pay licence fees which GVL usually collects on behalf of performing artists and record labels. GVL has now served the temporary injunction to Sonixcast which has not been legally binding so far.
