GVL distributes around 1.3 million Euros in this quarter, mainly from France, Austria and Japan. In total, we forwarded slightly more than 10.2 million Euros to our entitled performing artists from 26 different countries in 2024.
The remuneration for this distribution round for our producers comes from Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland and Spain. From the UK, we were able to distribute remuneration from the MTV group of channels for video clip broadcasts for a third time this year.
Traditionally, the course for the coming year is set at the November meeting of the Associates‘ and Delegates’ Assembly: In addition to project and budget planning for 2025, this time the preparations for the Rights Holders' Assembly and the

The first results on the economic performance and significance of the music industry as a whole were presented and discussed in September as part of the Musikdialog Hamburg. The final report of the study, which has now been published, shows that In the music industry, everyone grows together – because the positive trend in the overall figures is reflected in every single sub-sector.
As a member of the ‘Digital Data Exchange’, GVL has been actively working with other leading players in the music industry for many years to exchange information more efficiently along the entire value chain.
From this year onwards, it will be possible to use the DDEX standard ERN to send a standardised publication notification for digital releases to the German Music Archive (Deutsches Musikarchiv, DMA). As a department of the German National Library (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, DNB), the DMA explains that the automatic delivery currently mainly affects labels and music distributors that are able to use the DDEX standard ERN. In particular, the DMA sees technical challenges for freelance performers and smaller independent labels.

GVL supports the call for regulation of generative AI formulated by Ed Newton-Rex. The short and clear statement warns of the consequences for the livelihoods of all those creatives whose works are used without permission as the basis for AI models. Unlicensed use would have fatal consequences for the economic basis of creatives and their partners.
Event organisers with remuneration can now find their individual distribution results for the final distribution 2020 in the my.gvl portal.
Based on the current planning for the final distribution 2021, we have set the deadline for contributions for this usage year of event organisers to June 30, 2025. The final distribution 2021 will take place in the 4th quarter of 2025, further regular distributions for the years 2022 and 2023 and the initial distribution 2024 will be completed in June 2025 according to current planning.
With this final distribution, GVL concludes the distribution for the usage year 2020. All funds, including provisions, that are available to us for this year will be distributed.
In total, around €20.2 million will be paid out in the final distribution for 2020. 170,872 performing artists participated in the distribution. These are all rights holders who have reported their contributions to used productions by the deadline.
