MIZ reception at Classical:NEXT

This week, the classical music community gathered in Berlin for Classical:NEXT. Around 2,000 participants attended the trade fair to exchange ideas, take part in numerous events and enjoy evening concerts. Josephine Baenisch, head of the Classical Music and Orchestras group in the Rights Holders Service, represented GVL at the international event.

GVL celebrates its premiere with ‘GVL Live’ in the Festsaal Kreuzberg

 

2025 is a special year for GVL: more than 180,000 performers and producers are invited to the GVL Rights Holders' Assembly.

Following the election week at the beginning of June, GVL will celebrate a premiere on 11 June with ‘GVL Live’, where creatives, labels, newly elected delegates and representatives of the cultural scene will meet in person for the first time in the Festsaal Kreuzberg. The event offers space for exchange, encounters and new impulses from the industry.

GVL forwards international funds

This time, we are distributing a total of 1.8 million euros to our rights holders and producers from a total of twelve countries. For performers, the funds come mainly from the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Producers will receive funds from Denmark, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain and the USA in this distribution round. Once again, we were able to include remuneration from the MTV broadcasting group for video clip broadcasts.

In this distribution run, GVL is distributing a total of €13.6 million in additional payments to performers and their legal successors for the years 2021 to 2023.

GVL distributes international funds to performers

This time, we are distributing a total of €2.8 million to our eligible performers, mainly from Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Hungary and Spain. A third of the funds distributed come from our German-speaking neighboring countries alone. For the first time, our eligible musicians will also benefit from remuneration from Lithuania, thanks to the bilateral agreement with AGATA signed in 2024.
