GVL forwards foreign remuneration to performing artists and recording producers
Already earlier this month, international revenues were distributed to the entitled performing artists. Now, as planned, the remuneration for recording producers will follow these days. As in the previous year, we have thus achieved our goal of distributing royalties from abroad to our rightsholders on a quarterly basis.
GVL forwards foreign remuneration to performing artists and recording producers
In this distribution round, a total of approximately 2.6 million Euros from all over the world will be distributed to our rightsholders this time.
This time, our recording producers receive remunerations from Great Britain, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania and the USA, among others. Moreover, we forward money to our performing artists from Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Austria and others. For the first time, our musicians also receive usage-based payments from Brazil.
Producers: Subsequent distributions of sound recordings 2019 to 2021 started
As of today, the GVL is making the payouts for the subsequent distributions of sound recordings 2019 to 2021 to its rights holders. The individual distribution results and, in the case of additional remuneration, the corresponding payment notifications are now available on the label.gvl portal.
GVL Talk on international exchange
GVL on tour internationally
The most important events in the international calendar of events include the General Assembly of the International Confederation of Performers' Rights Societies (SCAPR) and the meeting of international producers' representatives in the Performance Rights Committee (PRC Meeting): Both meetings took place in May and GVL was present as one of the leading societies.
Associates' and Delegates' Assembly meets for summer session
At the meeting, among other things, the year-end accounts and the transparency report 2022 were adopted and decided upon. Details can be found in the current press release (14 June 2023).
Furthermore, the Associates' and Delegates' Assembly approved further grants within the framework of the Ukraine aid against the background of the ongoing war.
GVL advocates tariff increase in the area of public performance
In addition to the revenues from broadcasting and private copying, remunerations from public performance of artistic recordings are a main pillar of GVL licensing. In the interests of its rights holders, the GVL is seeking an appropriate increase in tariffs in this area.
Music usage: Termination of two tariffs for public performance
Both tariffs were terminated vis-à-vis the Federal Association of Music Broadcasters (BVMV) on 31 December 2022. The GVL will have the tariffs reviewed in arbitration proceedings. Without recognising the previous tariff level and in the interest of mutual planning security, the interim, i.e. temporary, continued application of the current tariffs was agreed with the Federal Association of Music Promoters until a legally binding decision is reached. The agreement to exclude the retroactive effect of tariffs set in the future also works in favour of users outside BVMV.
