Event organisers: Distributions 2021-2023 completed

As announced in the distribution plans, GVL has started to provide the individual distribution results of the Initial distribution 2023 today. At the same time, the subsequent distributions for the 2021 and 2022 usage years have been completed.

The payments of the distribution revenues achieved have been instructed. Detailed reports and payment notifications have been made available to all participating rights holders in the my.gvl portal. According to current planning, the final distribution to event organisers for 2020 will take place in November 2024.

GVL closes financial year 2023 with significant revenue growth

On June 10, 2024, the associates and delegates of Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten mbH (GVL) adopted the annual financial statements for 2023. At EUR 249.2m, the income is clearly EUR 13.8m higher than in the previous year.

Associates' and Delegates' Assembly convenes for summer meeting

Among other things, the year-end accounts and the 2023 transparency report were received and adopted at the meeting. In addition, the Associates' and Delegates' Assembly supplemented the list of channels to be evaluated in the 2023 distribution plans.

Performers: Distribution of remuneration arising from the extension of the term of protection

This distribution relates to sound recording productions in the years 1963-1971 whose term of protection was extended from 50 to 70 years. In this distribution, contributions from the years 1968 to 1971 are remunerated the first time.

As provided by law, GVL passes on 20% of the sales income from 2019 to 2022 to the contributing musicians who do not receive any licence payments.

Broadcast information for 2023 fully available

Dear beneficiaries,

we are happy to inform you that you can now also find the productions in the artist portal that were first broadcast in 2023 on the channels evaluated by GVL.

All media types - sound recordings, films and series, broadcast stage productions, radio music productions, radio spoken word productions and video clips - can now be found via the product search, so that you can report your contributions.

Performers: Subsequent distributions 2020-2022 started

In total, GVL will pay out an additional € 18.4m to performers and their legal successors as part of these subsequent distributions.

Three-country meeting of collecting societies

On 10 and 11 April 2024, the collecting societies for neighbouring rights in the DACH region met in Berlin. GVL hosted the event and warmly welcomed colleagues from Swissperform in Zurich and LSG in Vienna.

The agenda of the annual event included a general exchange of experiences as well as the presentation of best practices and current technical and legal issues. Discussions also focussed on opportunities for closer cooperation.

Producers: Subsequent distributions sound recordings 2020 to 2022 started

As of today, GVL will complete the payouts for the subsequent distributions sound recordings 2020 to 2022 to its rights holders. The individual distribution results as well as the corresponding payout notifications for additional remuneration are available on the label.gvl portal with immediate effect.
