GVL launched the payout for distribution year 2013. The first artists were paid the remuneration calculated for them before Christmas. The payout of remuneration for sound recordings to producers already commenced at the beginning of December.
The German "Initiative Musik" released a video at the occasion of the awards ceremony of the "Spielstättenprogrammpreis". The prize was awarded to 58 clubs and events series by cultural secretary Monika Grütters. GVL is among the prize's sponsors. On Thursday, 4 December 2014, GVL has its first appearance at the "Most Wanted: Music #convention". At the workshop "GVL - this is how artists and producers benefit", participants get insight into GVL's activities and an overview of the online portals ARTSYS.GVL as well as TRISYS.GVL.
Under the headline "Creativity's value", GEMA, GVL, VG Bild-Kunst and VG Wort discussed the imminent amendment to the German copyright administration right with artists, producers of sound recordings, authors and politicians on 5 November in the German Cinematheque at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin.
At this year's musicians' conference "Operation Ton", GVL holds a workshop on its online portal ARTSYS.GVL on Friday, 07 November 2014.
GVL's annual report 2013 is now available online. Apart from key economic indicators, it contains additional information on distribution, cultural projects supported by GVL as well as the series "GVL on site". Another item worth highlighting is the joint interview with the two associate representatives for GVL, Prof. Dieter Gorny (BVMI) and Gerald Mertens (DOV).
GVL takes part in this year's Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg (17 to 20 September 2014) by holding a workshop dedicated to the topics ARTSYS.GVL and TRISYS.GVL.
GVL, the Society for the administration of neighbouring rights, finally received the overdue remuneration for private copies made on PCs for the years 2011 to 2013. GVL is entitled to a total of EUR 40.99m; the receivables in the balance sheet, blocked for several years, can thus be liquidated entirely.
GVL shall be represented with an information stand in the Berlin "Postbahnhof" (a former post office) during this year's VUT Indie Days as part of the Berlin Music Week.
